My First French Bread

Since I purchased the bread machine, I've been wanting to make real bread...I mean, bread, baked in the oven. What a better way to start out making real bread, then starting with a French loaf. Honestly, it's not as hard as you think, especially if someone shows you how to shape it, in this case I've included the video that I watched, and was quite helpful. Recipe to follow.
Authentic French Bread
1 1/2 cups water
1 2/2 tsp. salt
3 cups bread flour
2 packets dry yeast
cornmeal for dusting pan
1 egg yolk
Place ingredients in bread machine pan, select dough setting, and press start. When dough has risen long enough, machine will beep. Turn off bread machine, remove pan, and turn out dough unto a floured board or counter top. Shape into a large loaf, or 2 small ones. Add a little water to the egg yolk, and with a pastry brush brush the top and sides of bread. Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 35 minutes.

Nothing like a nice French bread toast with fresh home made strawberry jam. The jam is made by my daughter before they left for their North Carolina road trip, I think she forgot to take it with her. Actually, she made several jars of it. Perfect consistency, and just the right sweetness. Continental breakfast couldn't get any better.
